Insurance Defense Trial Attorney
In this position, the House Counsel Attorney provides legal representation to Progressive insureds and/or to the Progressive Insurance Companies before courts and arbitration panels in all aspects of litigation. The attorney also prepares legal pleadings, motions, statements, trial briefs, and is involved in negotiating settlements with plaintiffs and/or their attorneys in conjunction with claims department authority. Some appellate work may be required as well.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Juris doctorate required.
- At least 3-7 years automobile personal injury defense experience preferred.
- Must have jury trial with verdict experience.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
- An active member in good standing of the Bar in the state of Georgia required.

Counsel Attorney
Position Description
- Manages legal business matters pertaining to the organization.
- Provides a variety of general corporate and commercial legal services to a number of in-house clients.
- Acts as advisor on legal issues involving the organization’s government and regulatory compliance.

- Demonstrates experience in general corporate matters, including corporate organization, securities compliance, drafting transactional documents, license agreements, employment law, immigration law, regulatory matters, risk management asset-backed financing, and contract management.
- Advice on legal issues may also deal with trade secrets, advertising law, registration, and other resolutions which may include the computer and technology industry as well as SEC reporting.

General Attorney
The General Attorney works under the close supervision of the Managing Attorney, who provides specific guidance and direction as to the approach, source materials available, and the policies and precedents of the matter involved. General supervision is under the Deputy Regional Counsel. The General Attorney participates in ascertaining the facts, searching legal standards and precedents, defining factual and legal issues, and developing conclusions and recommendations. Work is reviewed, usually while in progress and upon completion for soundness of approach, application of legal principles, and consistency with governing policies and procedures. Highly controversial and sensitive matters are discussed with the Managing Attorney or, as appropriate, the Deputy Regional Counsel for the purposes of providing pertinent information and status. All cases of recognized regional or national significance are cleared with the Regional Counsel through the Deputy Regional Counsel.
