Medical Secretary
Overview:
Responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties in direct relation with the patients, physicians, and any other medical personnel as related to the physician’s daily operational environment. This position is a direct employee to the physician.
Responsibilities:
-Performs clerical duties as related to clinical services in scheduling appointments, testing, and to include surgery.
-Schedules surgery and coordinates patient benefits and collection of patients portion of the insurance. Confirms insurance eligibility and obtains precert information for surgery.
-Coordinates with Patient Account Rep for posting surgery and getting information to PAR
-Completes disability forms and fmla forms.

Under general supervision, performs routine office tasks following prescribed guidelines and procedures. Generates documents and correspondence which require a knowledge of medical terminology. Greets visitors, answers phones and responds to questions requiring routine or standard information. Maintains calendars, prepares daily schedules and prioritizes meeting requests for one or several managers. Ensures supervisor is prepared for scheduled meetings. Coordinates, attends and may take minutes at meetings. Creates databases and enters information into computer. Creates and maintains organized filing system. Processes incoming mail; prepares and mails correspondence and information. Proofreads and corrects generated correspondence. Orders and maintains office supplies and forms. Operates standard office equipment. May direct the work of other clerical employees. May process employee time cards and employee transactions. Performs related responsibilities as required.

Clinical Documentation Special
Responsibilities:
-Reviews inpatient medical records for identified payer populations on admission and throughout hospitalization. Analyzes clinical status of patient, current treatment plan and past medical history and identifies potential gaps in physician documentation
-Communicates with attending physician either verbally or through written methodology to validate observations and suggest additional and/or more specific documentation.
-Works closely with HIM coding staff to assure documentation of discharge diagnosis (es) and any coexisting comorbidities is a complete reflection of the patient’s clinical status and care.
-In collaboration with physician leadership, designs and implements specific tools to support medical record physician documentation.
-Develops and implements plans for both formal and informal education of physician, nursing, and other clinical staff.

Purpose of the Position

Underwriting Specialist - Medical Professional Liability
Job Summary
Under limited direction the ideal candidate underwrites and analyzes new and renewal Medical Malpractice business primarily for Hospitals, Outpatient and Miscellaneous Health Care Facilities. Responsibilities include marketing Zurich’s products and services through the agency/brokerage community and developing and maintaining relationships with Agents, Brokers and Clients as well as monitoring and following all underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will work within broad limits and authority on highly complex assignments, while also providing leadership and mentoring to other underwriting team members.
Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience underwriting medical malpractice business with Hospitals and Miscellaneous Health Care Facilities, preferably with experience in loss rated accounts. Must have experience marketing and negotiating with producers and a proven track record of production in the Southeast region.
