Epidemiologist/Public Health Analyst
Description:
Northrop Grumman is seeking an epidemiologist to provide expert advice and technical guidance to public health program officials on State-based surveillance programs procedures, programs and policies related to chronic disease risk factor surveillance. Incumbent will assume a consultative role in the analysis, interpretation, and use of State collected data, the analysis and reporting of findings, and review of proposed recommendations and procedures. The incumbent applies analytical expertise to the design, development, and assessment of State-based chronic disease behavioral risks databases; and provides analytic and technical assistance and consultation to State surveillance programs regarding data collection, data interpretation, analysis, and use. Functions as a member of the State Support Team and provides input in day-to-day technical and scientific planning, and management of State-based behavioral surveillance programs. Advises State programs concerning the analysis, interpretation, and use of data to prevent adverse outcomes and secondary conditions resulting from chronic disease. Participates in the planning and development between the Team and States regarding surveillance priorities and health promotion and disease prevention program strategies.

The Director provides leadership to the Public Health Training Initiative. The Initiative is a collaborative effort with one or more countries’ government education and health officials and academic faculties as well as one or more colleges. The Initiative has three prime objectives: strengthening the teaching capacities of the colleges’ teaching staff; collaborating in developing health learning materials specifically targeted to meet the learning needs of the primary health services staff and contributing to the learning environment of colleges and facilities. Screening of articles for scope:
-Screen newly identified citations of HIV prevention research articles for inclusion/exclusion in the Prevention Research Synthesis (PRS) database by reviewing the citation title and abstract.
-Enter codes in the PRS database.
Initial coding of articles for PRS database:
-Independently code citation-level qualitative and quantitative data from the in scope articles
-Enter codes in the PRS database.
-Reconcile codes and discuss discrepancies in coding with the CDC client if resolution is needed. -Finalize codes in the PRS database.

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
