General Employment Advisor
The General Employment Advisor assists new students with their in-school, general employment needs
and builds relationships with all new students so that new students know what services CDS provides,
avail themselves of those services, and engage with CDS a minimum of three terms before they
graduate and begin searching for a career related job.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Introduces new students to Career Development and the services available to them
-Guides new students through the general employment process
-Coordinates employment related/retention activities with the Student Services department
-Presents Career Development Services at new student orientation and registration, and the services available to students.
-Schedules, fills and facilitates workshops to educate students on how to conduct a general employment job search, within the first three weeks of each term.
-Coaches students individually and in groups on job creative search skills, resume writing, interviewing techniques, etc.
-Generates and maintains relationships with employers who offer general employment positions
-Leverages relationships with employers to bring appropriate speakers to campus to address: retention, career mindedness, and getting the most out of one’s education.
-Partners with Instructors (Education) and Student Services to help students develop necessary, but possibly lacking, skills and experience.
-Maintains student files regularly and accurately.

Introduction of TaLK Program:
The South Korean Government sponsored TaLK (Teach and Learn in Korea) program is inviting adventurous global leaders to teach English to students and to experience and learn about Korean culture. Program participants will receive Korean government funding and will teach English in after-school classes at Korean elementary schools. Applicants will also enjoy cultural programs during their free time. TaLK participants will be placed at schools in rural areas in need of greater exposure to English and teach the language by forming one-on-one working relationships with Korean University student volunteers.
Applicants should have a desire to work with children, have a service-centered mind, a willingness to work in rural areas, and have consideration for others with a positive attitude.
Benefits:
-Monthly allowance: 1.5 million KRW (approximately $1,300 USD)
-Accommodation (studio-type room, or a home-stay)
-Round-trip airfare
-Health insurance
-One-time settlement allowance- 300,000KRW
-Opportunities to participate in cultural programs
-4 week Orientation beginning in February 2011
