Health Education Specialist
Major Duties:
The incumbent designs and implements innovative informative research and health education strategies to enhance the PR team’s effort to effectively educate the public and health care providers on
hemoglobinopathy surveillance, research, policy initiatives, state-based programs, and interventions. Conducts needs assessments to identify educational priorities and needs among diverse audiences
interested in hemoglobinopathies. Provides leadership, consultation, and technical expertise and assistance to grantees and contractors in planning, implementing, and evaluating the development and dissemination of appropriate messages and materials for hemoglobinopathy related health education programs. Facilitate and initiate the conduct of formative and summative evaluation of PR education and awareness activities developed within CDC and among CDC grantees. Provide leadership in transferring new information and new technology to practitioners in the field as health knowledge
expands and priorities change.
