Surveillance Officer
Duties & Responsibilities: Under general supervision, this position conducts active surveillance for acute viral hepatitis A, B, C in metropolitan Atlanta. The incumbent gathers, compiles and analyzes data in relation to program area and develops appropriate reports based on findings.
This position will also be responsible for improving data quality for all hepatitis A, B, C data that are captured in the State Electronic Notifiable Disease Surveillance System (SendSS). The incumbent will work closely with epidemiologists and communicable disease specialists who investigate hepatitis cases in two designated Health Districts to identify and respond to hepatitis cases.
The incumbent also oversees transport of laboratory specimens, participates in the assessment of program operations, and provides technical assistance and program information to internal and/or external customers.
