PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE III
JOB SUMMARY; DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS; ESSENTIAL DUTIES; KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Incumbent in this class performs duties related to serving as a nursing consultant and maintaining a clinical practice. Responsibilities include managing assigned staff and overseeing designated health centers or public health programs.
This is the fourth level within a seven-level professional registered nursing classification series. Public Health Nurse III is distinguished from Public Health Nurse II in that the former assumes a management and consulting role as an expert in an appropriate field, maintains a clinical practice, and manages assigned staff; whereas the latter provides public health nursing services to patients in a variety of settings, including health centers, homes, community sites, inpatient/outpatient clinics, and mobile health units.
